There's a whole series of protocols. You must repeat what the person is saying and the points they're making, so that it demonstrates that you've taken in and understand them. We allow disagreement to take place in different form. Thats a it might rather than being in person. If somebody maybe is too emotional in the moment, or maybe they're not good at thinking on their feet, we allow that disagreed to take place oin written format.
