i'll defer to historian sarah pockerel on this one. She explains a raft of evidence suggests that eleanor was far from central to the revolt in the first place. The time line of the rebellion does not fit this theory. It started with the young king and his associates far from eleanor's power base in poitou. Eleanor was nowhere near the original conspirators. Even henry's most loyal contemporary chroniclers, who had every reason to trash eleanor, never once accused her of outright rebellion. That charge only comes in those later, less trustworthy chronicles.
