The Role of Guilt in Motivation

Our study shows that sometimes guilt is motivating. No utility that I've ever worked with would really be down with giving people negative feedback on their carbon footprint saying like you're doing really terribly. So it's just something to consider in a larger toolbox of things that you can use to promote change. We did an effort here in my community to both reduce carbon footprint and reduce water consumption. It seemed like there were three different types of people and a different message required for the three.
