The Mounties Were the Front Line of Canada's Hegemany
The Mounties were created in 18 73 by federal legislation to police present day western canada. The official version, the official canadian version of i tory, is that they were created and sent to end frontier violence and to protect first nations. In the big picture, they were created to prepare the west for the canadian national railway and for the settlers that were expected to follow. They were employed to assert ie hegemany in the western interior.
