The Denisovan Genome in East Asia

There were still Denisovans living in East Asia when the most recent wave of anatomically modern humans began showing up there after about 40,000 years ago. Recent work in genetics gives us some fascinating insights into these early inhabitants of the region. The analysis I'm most convinced by suggests that Denisovans were probably a more diverse group than Neanderthals. Our current label for them will probably shift as we get more data.
