Stocks and Stock Markets Boosted by Fed Cuts
Fed fund futures are now pricing in an 87% probability of a 25 basis point rate hike at the February 1st FOMC meeting. While stocks usually bounce when the Fed starts to cut rates, the euphoria can fade fast if there are structural problems that could bring the whole house down. According to Goldman Sachs, retail investors have now net sold all of the S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 stocks they accumulated from 2019 to 2021.
