The Origins of Big Data

Chris: Big data happened for a lot of reasons one people were just kind of drowning in data they built new systems like MPP databases in Hadoop. Chris is also the author of another book that I love that I called my 2022 book of the year co-written with Alfred Spector Peter Norvig and Janet Wayne called data science and context. In some ways it's very much like the birth of business intelligence so you can go back and look at the original position paper from IBM saying there's a field here.
