Wampum Belts - The New York Board of Regents
Federal government refused to reimburse henry carrington for purchase of belts. Carrington then sold the belts to an antiquities collector in boston. The mayor of albany found out about them, and he considered them to be part of new york history,. So he bought the group of four for 500 dollars. And the mayor then lent them out to the new york state commission that was creating new york's exhibit in the 18 93 world's fair at chicago.
