The Crisis of Art Art as Beauty

Kant wanted to say that the judgments of beauty be universal. He abstracted out everything except this formal element in order to get universal judgments. So he abstracted out color because you might prefer red and I might prefer green. But certainly there was a break from beauty, so these objects were being included in the world of the arts that were not beautiful. How can the traditional aesthetic approach to art art as beauty cope with these cases?
