Looking for Mr. Goodbar

In the mid 1970s, a columnist for Esquire magazine was asked by the editors to curate an upcoming edition that was dedicated exclusively to women's issues. She wanted to contribute an article about Roseanne's murder a few years earlier actually. But when the time came to publish the issue, the editors at Esquire thought that the article was going to result in some kind of legal action being taken against them by the family. So they refused to put it in there, be omitted it completely. A novelist named Judith Rossner became persistent and decided to develop her article into a fictional account of the story which she later published as the novel Looking for Mr. Goodbar.
