In the UK, we get a symmetrical exposure to dawn and dusk. This means most of us will miss morning but get lots of dusk light. We'll delay the clock by getting up later. The response is like a bell shaped curve. It's maximumly sensitive in the blue part of the spectrum. But it doesn't mean that they won't detect shortera wave length, or indeed, longer wave length light. Again, it's how long you're exposed to it.
