The Americans Loved My Bedroom
The Americans loved my bedroom because it was covered in posters of the boy band Westlife. We thought they were friendly, funny looking strangers, but they were also occupying us and they were the reason there was violence. I remember the house-to-house raids. First thing in the morning, the Americans would gather up all the men,. including my father and his uncles, and take them to the mosque or school. They would take photos of them all and fingerprints. It's not very polite to burst into someone's house when they are in bed.
