The Struggle Between Catholicism and Protestantism
The largely Protestant Bohemians did not much like their new king Ferdinand. He tried to reverse many of what they believed to be their secular privileges and freedoms. James had no truck with such a concept, as far as he was concerned. This falls slap bang into the heart of the resistance theory debate. If a monarch didn't do right by religion for his people, it was meat, right, and our bounding duty to chuck him out on their ear.
