The civil rights movement is a not only seen as the kind of a exemplary example, historically, of the disobedience but also seems to be construed in a particular liberal framework. John rawl's theory of civil disobedience circulates very widely outside the academy. And yet some of the contours of how he sees the concept and how he develops it as tide through a particular of thinking about the civil rights example felt very familiar to me from tot sort of taking stock of popular discourse around civil disobedience in the contemporary moment.
