Hinkin identifies a number of different influences that may have led to the increased salience of the week in the 19th century. He also points to schools as possibly playing a role in cementing weekly routines. But ultimately, Hinkin identifies as maybe the main contributor to the increasing importance of the week as an organizing principle for life.
