The Romantic Antiquarianism

Romantic antiquarianism was hugely important in the romantic period. Then it sort of went away as history became more professionalized. History wasn't studied in universities until much later on, in the nineteenth century. And then i think we've rediscovered the romantic idea of history - that these were real people who had feelings and disasters. It's a wonderful rediscovery of history, of people doing their own history.
