The Good It Promises, the Harm It Does, Critical Essays on Effective Altruism
Laurie and I are co-editors of a forthcoming book, which is exciting. It's criticizing in ways that will make sense if you've listened to this interview. Most of the contributors are activists working in social justice movements who are partly concerned with the treatment of animals. They're bringing out how interventions based on utilitarian or effective altruist calculations of most good tend to reinforce the very harms that effective altruist aim to combat.
