There are a lot of policies in place in the US that make it more expensive, more challenging from the perspective of time. And there is quite a bit of evidence that people in their later years wish they had had more children. So to the extent that there are policy impediments to people having as many children as they want, what are they? I think it is worth considering some less costly alternatives.
