The Limiting Efficiency of a Solar Cell

The limiting efficiency of a solar cell, or monochromatic light, if if you could tune the band gap, would be close to 100%. But we don't. We have a panchromatic son. M, and whilst your solar cell is tuned, it's going to be optimise for conversion at a particular energy. So with this optimization problem, you've got the solar spectrum. And you want to find the bangap which will convert the energy most efficiently. That's the one perametor, if you like, that you've got to play with.
