The Importance of Behavior in Consciousness
Gilbert: In some sense, behavior is sort of the guiding light of everything we know about consciousness. But then I guess to see how far this reliance on behavior goes, I'm curious what you would say about a case where a robot consistently flinches when you punch it. Gilbert: It does seem like, at least for some mechanisms, we would take them to be sort of defeaters of the behavior being a reliable indicator.
