Camila left a voicemail for her ex-boyfriend on the ferry to Governor's Island. He called three times that day and she was waiting outside with Ava when it hailed. She heard his voice but couldn't make out what he was saying in the muffled recording. The messages are like an abstract performance of a lost intimacy, says Camila.
