The Effect of Light on the Body Clock

The established view was that the way our body clock knows what time of day is is simply by measuring the amount of light in the environment. The scientists created an artificial sky where they could independently bury the color and the brightness to create a night-like experience for mice. They then compared how the body clock synchronised to that dawn dusk transition to a second condition where we kept the change in brightness but removed the changes in colour.
