The State of the Software in the Power System Industry

There is a big difference between what are the, what are called PSSE or RMS models and the newer EMT or PS CAD models. The PS CAD models are far more computationally intensive but also much more granular in modeling some of the really rapid interactions that can occur in the power system. So certainly, if you talk to NSPs and AIMO and probably a good portion of developers, they'll agree that some degree of PS CAD studies are necessary.
