Sally Kohn: It's important to think about what is the purpose of that cop. She says police use violence towards particular ends but facilitate extraction of racialized capitalism. Kohn: Not everything that is harmful is named as a crime, even though it kills more people than jaywalking. The criminalization is about who the state decides to punish and encourage other people to punish - why and when and how.
