Religion is a sort of a neuro technology that can help solve the issue of the divided self and if you're going to have group cooperation you need it. You need individuals who have some executive control over in some sense of agency and intentionality built to make long-term commitments to a group. So solving the divide itself helps to solve the overall issue of group cooperation in the culture seems to me so that's one way it's connected with religiosity culture getting into executive control.
