The West Dean Visitor Centre

The West Dean visitor centre is not a particularly impressive building. It's got other tells, like bad joinery and kind of fun detailing. Part of the reason for Alexander's repute is that he becomes the idea of patent language. Patent language was taken up by a group of software architects in the late 80s to early 90s. The book Design Patterns elements of reusable object oriented software written by four people published in 1994.
