Evelyn is struggling with maybe depression. In her very intense nihilistic approach identity. She still wants her mom to say I get it and to comfort her. Even when most of her has locked into this idea that we find peace in being both so locked into nothing matters, she can't ignore or turn off the part of her that needs her mom.
