How to Evaluate a Position in Computer Chess
understanding the structure of the game yeah that's the most fundamental and that is actually the easiest part. We need to be able to evaluate a position so we need to say how well is this position going for black or for white. The last part of a computer chess program is the search function which has to go and look into the future. A computer can determine based on all the information I've available to me this is the best move in this given position.
