The key thing is what are you wanting, needing and then making a specific request. to me I expect you to do the dishes tonight and I might feel like I'm being controlled or she could say it would really make me feel good if you would support me by doing the dishes. Be willing in the relationship to not always expect everyone's going to just give you what you want otherwise it's not really much of a relationship so you have to find a healthy compromise.
