St. John Chrysostom's Prayer
An interesting note to bring up in the life of St. John Chrysostom is while he was a priest in Antioch there was actually an uproar in the empire under St. Theodosius the Great. He had basically raised extremely high what would be at that time considered like income tax for everybody. So within the main squares throughout the empire would be erected usually the emperor and also his family. During this revolt people actually roped and pulled down the statues and dragged them through the city on horses which was the penalty of high treason. And so all of those that were imprisoned and those who were put through the various trials they were put the penalty for treason was death in the empire. But
