The Future of Pathology
The mode in which we will operate is using digitized or digitalized slides. This is also known as whole slide image and that is a means to an end. It is a convenient way of transferring images to pathologists remotely very seamlessly. So it obviates this rather tedious unwieldy process, bolted on to that is artificial intelligence and I like to think of it as augmented intelligence rather than artificial intelligence. We want to have diagnostic algorithms that assist pathologists especially in the difficult areas so it's not intended to replace pathologists. At the end of the day I think the role of the pathologist will be redefined instead of generating a mere morphological diagnosis they will lend
