Protesters are demanding that the script be changed because it depicts lesbians as murderers and contains a scene in which they claim a woman is date raped. Executives at Carolco and Tristar Pictures likewise took a strong stance against what could be a Hollywood nightmare. But Variety was quick to suggest the protests were running out of steam, in an item headlined Basic Protest Poorly Attended. No one would actually see this movie for months, and when they did, the conversation temporarily shifted away from concerns of the gay community.
