The Pleasure of Sex
When you have a word for something, you don't need the thing as much. The distinction between the life drive and the death drive is true but only on condition that one sees all sexual drives articulated at the level of significations in the unconscious. And as much as what they bring out is death. In what conditions and what determinism can death the signifier spring fully armed into treatment? This can be understood only by our way of articulating the regulations. For can it be said that there is a being for death? Some of you are in philosophy departments.
