Is String Theory the Way to a Theory of Everything?

String theory operates at such a tiny level that we can't really test it. The only test of string theory so far has been a search for these extra fermions and bozons. Instead of taking quanti mechanics and trying to incorporate gravity in making this big, quantum mechanical view of the universe, they're starting from gravity.
