The Importance of Grace

The German idealist story is about the division of the original unity, which Schelling gets into here. So I think grace is an important word because it could refer to something religious, but also just the aspect of character or the aspect of communicating with one's body. There's a language of the body and of the face that's just kind of there already where we can actually communicate emotion and inner life through posture. The position of the body has a meaning, it has a signification that goes beyond the merely material. And that's part of what I think Grace gets in.
