Topic Prominent Languages, Is It Always a Topic?

Daxus is a kind of discourse, you pick something out of the common ground and say, I'm about to talk about that now. Topic prominent languages are much less likely to have a definite article. So long as you can assume that your listener will know what you're talking about, then it can be topicalized. The Lao language has five topic markers which are related to demonstrative adjectives.
