The default instinct of animals is to preserve energy, because you don't know when you're going to need it. A cat does not get bored; a cat is completely happy sleeping in the sun all day. That's what drives us to overcome that animal instinct to conserve our energy and actually go out there and do things such as invent tools, invent fire, invent language and invent culture.
