The Evolution of Xenophobia

I think it's a natural predilection of academics who are experts in an area to have open minds in that area, and close minds in others. The less you know, the more foreign it seems, the more willing you are naturally to dismiss it. And so I lament the fact that otherwise intelligent, bright, trained people don't go into these new ecosystems where we want our intellectual Navy seals to be weighing in. But they're not Navy seals because they're cowardly. It's just a human property. We have to go up.
