Introduction

You are tuned in to Eknikron, a death to the world podcast done in conjunction with St. Timothy Orthodox Church in Lompo, California. Today we're just going to go through a quick overview of the history of monasticism and what monasticism is. There's a lot of books that I'll be using throughout this lecture series from the lives of the desert fathers by St. Anthony's. Most of these fathers all have works in and of themselves. Next week we're going to talk about St. Anthony the Great who has his own life written by St. Athanasius.
