Beethoven has the most expensive coffee and he grinds it himself. He goes into realms that we've never seen before in his music. We can almost date it with the Hamicala via sonata opus 106. Beethoven stopped composing after nine symphonies don't need anymore. After ten violent sonatas he stops after a club here which is twenty nights.
This episode is part two of our live Bach vs Beethoven. The BBC’s Reeta Chakrabarti was joined by world-renowned cellist Steven Isserlis and acclaimed music critic Norman Lebrecht to discuss who was greater, Bach or Beethoven? Mishka Rushdie Momen accompanies this conversation on the piano.
