Permanence was an obsession of the ancient people in the west. They were obsessed with permanence, the Greeks especially. If you guys remember your history, they love tragedies because they knew no matter how good life is it's going to change. And even if it is right now, it will change. You reach enlightenment and there you have your permanence.
