The 19th century was a time of secret societies. The Knights of the Golden Circle began before the American Civil War and continued throughout it. This episode will set us up for other mysteries, such as whether John Wilkes Booth got away after Abraham Lincoln's assassination or if Confederate forces hid stashes of gold to fund a second war.
