Levi Strauss: A History of the Business

In July, 1855, Levi sent a shipment of gold back to his brothers. By the end of 1855, he'd sent more than $80,000 home in gold. In 1856, Salk continued expansion of the Strauss Enterprise in California. The firm also changed names that year - it went from J Strauss and Brother to J Strauss, Brother and Company.
