Introduction

Catch 22 is a dilemma from which there's no escape, because something can't happen until something else has happened. The term catch 22 comes from the title of a 19 61 novel by the american writer joseph heller. It's the story of a fighter pilot who wants to avoid being sent out on more combat missions on insanity grounds. All he had to do was ask, and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions.
