norman baker spent two years running the crescent resort in eureka springs. During that time he managed to embezzle millions of dollars out of his desperate ans, many of whom tragically died in the process. Baker served a short prison sentence of just four years for his financial crimes and was then released in the mid 19 forties. He lived out the rest of his life in relative luxury, passing away in 19 58 on board his very own yacht. The building would change hands for the next few decades, slowly falling apart as time went by. In 19 97, new owners took control and began the slow process of restoring the hotel to its original glory.
