Is There a Mental Illness at Play?

Richard was diagnosed with paranoid skitzophrenia at age 23. He shaved off all his hair, so he could see if his bones were moving. Was routinely dismissed as a hypochondriac when he clearly needed some major mental health intervention. And while living with her, he became convinced that she was poisoning him and wouldn't eat any food she made. She just couldn't handle him, so she told his dad her x, and he sent richard to live in an apartment on his own. It's the right call, i don't know what the right call is but i feel like he needs help.
