Sulla is deposed as consul of Rome and given charge of the war against mithridates. He looks out at his men, asking what are they really fighting for? What's in their hearts? Where do their loyalties really lie? Sulla searches his soldiers faces with that piercing gaze. Indignation was building. Now salla's officers are starting to look at each other nervously. Follow him where? Obey in what? The soldiers are getting rowdy. More acclamations from the soldiers. Yes, death to the tyrants. Very good. And then he hears it. Sulla, save rome. To rome.
