The History of the Escalator
In 1911, a one-legged man was employed to write the escalator at Earls Court Tube Station. It was the first escalator that had been installed on the London Underground. Nine dresses were torn, one finger was pinched, and one lame passenger fell off his crutch in the first week of use.
