Heart rate variability is the best measurement for understanding how prepared your body is. Breathing in particular, and we could spend a while talking about breathing, but if you manage the right forms of breath work, you can create what's called autonomic control. If you are very intentional about how you choose to inhale and exhale, you can change your HRV throughout the day.
