Using False Flag Lures in Pirate Ships
In addition to the painted canvas and crowded deck strategies we spoke of last week, pirates also made great use of ascla. A pirate would often use a literal false flag wo to t ose dangment. These false flags would lure the ship into attack range by flying the same flag that the other ship was flying. And many pirates even had their own custom flags that conveyed the correct sense of menace to the other ship's crew.
